PARROTTSVILLE-The 12th annual Parrottsville Heritage Days
celebration will be this Friday and Saturday, Oct. 9-10, at Parrott-LaRue-Myers
Memorial Park and will feature such popular events as a chili cook-off, quilt
show, flower show, pumpkin decorating contest, craft and food booths, talent
shows, children's games and entertainment, a display of antique cars and
tractors, and the Harvest Days beauty pageant.
Organizers will be on hand Friday from 3-6 p.m. to accept
entries in the quilt show. Judging will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday. For

Also on Friday will be the flower show with judging
scheduled for 5 p.m. Betty Smith chairs this event and can be reached at (423)

Debbie Hommel will oversee the talent shows, which are
also planned for Friday evening. Competitors will vie in the following
categories: grades K-4, 5-8, 9-12, and adult. To find out more about these events,

The Natural Bridge Ruritan Club is sponsoring this year's
chili cook-off, which will be held at the Park Pavilion on Friday at 6 p.m.
Entries should be brought by 5 p.m. Judging begins at 6
p.m. Chili dinners will be sold for $5. For more information about the

Among the games and children's entertainment planned are
quarters in the haystack, water balloon tosses, pony ride, and face painting.
Judging of decorated pumpkins will be held on Saturday at
10 a.m. Entries should be brought at 9 a.m. that morning.
The beauty pageants will commence on Saturday at 12:30
