COSBY-On Monday, at Virgil Ball Stadium, the Cosby High School JV team hosted  Pigeon Forge looking for a little revenge for Friday nights loss to the Tigers. But it wasn't to be as the Tigers came away with a 20-8 victory.

The game started sluggish for both teams as neither team could get much going on offense. The first series of the game saw the Cosby defense force a punt, and took over on their 36 yard-line. After two fumbled snaps, on third down and nine, Cosby quarterback Drew Schreder found Brian Owenby across the middle for an 11 yard gain to the 47. Cosby was moving the ball after a 10-yard gain on a keeper by Schreder. Cosby was on the Pigeon Forge side of the field, but after another fumble, Pigeon Forge took over on their 45 yard-line.

Cosby's Jason Norman would step up with two big tackles. Then, Cosby's Jake Jenkins came through the line with a big quarterback sack. Cosby's defense was holding strong, forcing another fourth down play. But on fourth and 17 on the 30 yard-line, Pigeon Forge connected on  30-yard touchdown pass. The extra point was no good making the score 6-0 with 2:22 left in the first quarter.

After the kickoff Cosby's offense was ready to show that they came to play as well. The Eagles went on a drive that ate up 65 yards and 5:32 off the clock. On a second down play, Cosby's Chris Lee banged out 16 yards down to the 44 of Pigeon Forge. On the next play, Schreder would get 12 yards on another keeper. With the ball on the 14, Cosby's Chris lee punched it in for the touchdown. With Schreder's run on the conversion, Cosby would take the lead 8-6 with 9:25 left in the half.

With under five minutes to play in the first half, the Cosby defense was playing tough, including two tackles by Ky Russell. But, it was a missed tackle that led to a Pigeon Fore 32-yard touchdown run, and with the successful two-point conversion, the Tigers held the lead 14-8 at the half.

Both teams had trouble moving the ball in the second half. The Tigers put the final points of the game on the board with 3:30 left in the third quarter to make it 20-8.

The Eagles had a tough night holding on to the ball, committing four turnovers.

Chris Lee had a big night for the Eagles, picking up 119 yards on 16 carries and one touchdown. Schreder finished 4-12 through the air for 52 yards and two interceptions. Jason Norman led the Eagles in tackles with seven solo and four assists.

The Eagle JV squad returns to action on Monday, September 21, when they travel to Jellico. Kick off is slated around 6:30 p.m.
