ACCIDENTS

Backing mishap

Patrol Officer Donald Coakley responded to a car accident in the parking lot of Deb's Drive-In on Saturday. According to Coakley, when Rhonda L. Alhamdan, 911 Clifton Place, Chattanooga, attempted to back up, her 2001 Chevrolet Impala struck a 2008 Kia operated by Carrie H. Cobble, 61, 2536 Lower Clifton Road.

Parking lot mishap

On Monday, Lt. Terry Lawson answered a call to a driving mishap in the parking lot of Ken Jo Market, 1004 Cosby Highway. According to Lawson, as Dennis E. Robinson, 47, 485 Jimtown Road, attempted to back his 2007 Nissan, his vehicle struck a 2007 Ford Focus operated by Rickey D. Taylor, 47, 3745 Grooms Road, Hartford, and owned by Nancy V. Taylor, same address.

Bicycle-truck collision

Brandon K. Carder, 18, 715 Eighth St., was transported to the emergency room of Baptist Hospital of Cocke County following a bicycle-truck collision on Monday at the intersection of East Broadway (Hwy. 25/70) and Lincoln Avenue. According to Lt. Terry Lawson, the driver of a 1997 International dump truck, Benjamin L. Holder, 59, 213 Hwy. 160, was attempting to turn onto Lincoln Avenue from Broadway when his vehicle was struck by a bicycle ridden by Carder. According to Lawson, Carder said he was "going a little too fast when he hit his brakes (and) he could not stop and ran into the truck." The bicycle struck the truck's gasoline tank and then hit the truck's tires. The impact caused Carder to go over the bicycle's handlebars and bounce off the tires. The truck belongs to the Cocke County Highway Dept.

Lane change wreck

Patrol Officer Allen Stump investigated a two-vehicle accident on Monday near the intersection of New Cave Church Road and Highway 321. According to Stump, as Wilma J. King, 61, 1048 Kennedy Circle, Morristown, attempted to change lanes, her 2004 Chevrolet Malibu struck a 2003 Jeep Wrangler operated by Leslie K. Gass, 32, 641 Pikeview Avenue, Newport.

POLICE

Theft of medication

Gregg Goedert, 48, 424 Stone Creek, Knoxville, reported the theft of medication (oxycodone), a paint spray gun, and various other tools from his vehicle to Patrol Officer Heather Lawson on Sunday. According to Lawson, Goedert said he picked up an individual and the two went to a residence off Cosby Highway to do "contract work." When they arrived at the location, Goedert went inside but no one was there. Upon returning to his vehicle, the other man had left and the items were missing.

More meds missing

Ruby Wilkinson, 77, 406 Briggs Ave., told Patrol Officer William Garber on Monday that another woman had picked up her prescription for Oxycodone for her because she was unable to do so because of "medical reasons." According to Garber's report, Wilkinson said that when she received her medicine, aspirin had been substituted for the other tablets.

Items missing from vehicle

Lisa Vandaley, 32, 420 Bicentennial Way, reported several items taken from her car to Patrol Officer Matt Franklin on Wednesday. According to Franklin, Vandaley said that sometime during the early morning hours, someone stole a CD play and medication from her vehicle.

Gasoline pumps damaged

Patrol Officer William Garber filed a report on Monday regarding damage done to gasoline tanks at the Texaco station, 1301 West Highway 25/70. According to Garber, Edna Cates told him that on Saturday night, after a customer had purchased gasoline, he ran into the gasoline pumps with his blue Ford Explorer, doing $1600 in damages to them.

Flowers and wood taken from store

More than two dozen pots of chrysanthemums and 61 bundles of firewood were reported stolen from Food City West, 181 Western Plaza, on Monday. According to Patrol Officer Matt Franklin, store manager Robert Huff said the items were taken from the front of the store sometime between midnight and 6 a.m.

Suspects in theft

Daryl Overholt, 65, reported the theft of several items from his office at Mason Realty, 711 Cosby Highway, to Lt. Terry Lawson on Thursday. According to Lawson, Overholt said that when he came to work that morning, he discovered an E-machine computer system consisting of a Tower, a Samsung monitor, a computer mouse, a Linsky router, and a Kodak digital camera, with a combined value of $1,510 were missing. He also said the front door to the business was unlocked upon his arrival. There are two suspects in the thefts.

Weed Eater gone

Justin Hoover, 23, 435 Old Knoxville Highway, reported the theft of a weed trimmer to Patrol Officer Matt Franklin on Monday.

Vending machine robbed

Mark G. Jackson, Sevierville, reported the burglary of a vending machine at Best Western, 1015 Cosby Highway, to Patrol Officer Travis Gorrell on Saturday. Damage to the machine was estimated at $600, and an additional $60 was reported missing.

Counterfeit bill reported

Melissa Thompson, manager of Hardee's, reported the attempted use of a counterfeit $20 bill at the business on Sunday to Patrol Officer Matthew Elliott.

Assault reported

On Saturday, Sgt. Jason Smith responded to a report of an assault at 601 East Broadway. Upon his arrival, Smith was told by Dwayne Moore, 67, that a woman identified as Lena Donelson, 47, had been asked to leave the property for being "drunk and disorderly." Smith's report states that Donelson then became "very hostile" and grabbed Moore's shirt, after which other employees "got in between the two." Donelson was later arrested and charged with public intoxication.

Items missing from residence

Tina Gunter, 42, 550 Netherton Drive,  reported the theft of numerous items from her residence to Sgt. David R. Smith on Sunday. According to Smith's report, the stolen items include numerous pieces of jewelry, a Glock .357, a .22 rifle, and a CB radio, with a combined value of $15,430. There are suspects in the case.

SHERIFF

INCIDENTS

Violation charge

Sgt. Armando Fontes charged Lisa Shults, 31, 4275 Chavis Road, with violation of community corrections on Friday.

Charges placed

Lisa Mathis, 39, 7945 Bogard Road, was charged with simple possession of marijuana and public intoxication by Sgt. Armando Fontes on Friday.

Driving offense

Deputy Randall Hartsell cited Jessica Goins, 29, 150 KOA Lane, with second offense driving on a suspended license, having no proof of insurance, and violation of the tail light law on Saturday.

Two charges filed

Deputy Hollis Emmons charged Kathy Freelan, 42, 1372 Buttercup Way, with violation of probation and failure to appear  on Wednesday. According to Emmons' report, Freelan also faces charges in Sevier County for fraudulent use of a credit card.

Hill charged

Bobby J. Hill, 26, 567 Bonanza Drive, was cited with driving on a suspended license by Deputy Hollis Emmons on Friday. According to Emmons, other charges against Hill are pending.

Lawn mowers taken

Deputy Brian Holt responded to a report of two missing lawn mowers from the residence of Tommy McGaha, 796 Ranson Circle Road, on Monday. The mowers were reportedly taken from a carport behind the home.
