4th of July closings

NEWPORT-Numerous businesses and government agencies will be closed this weekend in observance of the July 4 holiday.

The Newport/Cocke County Community Center will be closed Friday and Saturday, July 3 and 4. The City Park pool will operate on regular hours.

There will be regular mail delivery on Friday, July 3, but the U. S. Post Office will close at 1 p.m. on Friday and will be closed all day on Saturday, July 4.

All city and county offices will be closed Friday and Saturday, July 3 and 4, and will reopen on Monday, July 6.

The office of the Cocke County Mayor will close at noon on Thursday, July 2, and reopen on Monday, July 6.

The lobby of Newport Utilities will be closed Friday, July 3, but the drive-through window will be open from 7:30 a.m. until 6:00 p.m. Both the lobby and drive-through window will be closed Saturday, July 4, and reopen Monday, July 6.

Jefferson Cocke County Utilities will be closed Friday and Saturday, July 3 and 4, and reopen Monday, July 6.

National Bank of Tennessee, Newport Federal Bank, Tennessee State Bank, and US Bank will be closed Saturday, July 4, and reopen Monday, July 6.

Green Bank will be closed Saturday, July 4. The bank's drive-through will be open Sunday, July 5, from 1-4 p.m.

All Cocke County libraries will be closed Saturday, July 4.

The Newport Plain Talk office will be closed Monday, July 6, and reopen Tuesday, July 7 at 8:30 a.m.

The offices of the Cocke County EDC, Newport/Cocke County Chamber of Commerce, and Cocke County Tourism Department will be closed on Friday, but the staff members will be working all day to prepare for Hometown Celebration that evening at the Cocke County A & I Fairground. The offices will reopen on Monday, July 6.
