Newport Plain Talk newspaper deliverer in accident
Norwood C. Lewis, 68, of 22 Linden St., in Newport, was allegedly delivering Newport Plain Talk newspapers on Knoll Drive on Thursday, May 28, around 1:40 p.m. in a 1998 Mercury Sable when the vehicle ran off the right side of the road. It allegedly struck a utility pole, breaking it into two pieces. The vehicle came to rest on top of a wood pile, according to a report by Cocke County Deputy Sheriff Hollis Emmons in his report on the accident.

Dog bite alleged
Kennedy Trombley, 40, of 194 Buckner Hollow Road, told Cocke County Deputy Sheriff Randall Hartsell that when he started his lawn mower on Tuesday, June 2, a dog came over and bit him on the top side of his right foot. Trombley allegedly decided not to go to the emergency room of a hospital, but then his foot got infected so he went to the emergency room at Baptist Hospital of Cocke County.

Theft of boat alleged
Johnnie Haney, 56, of 2329 Scenic Mountain Drive, in Sevierville, told Cocke County Deputy sheriff Tony Bailey on Tuesday, June 2, that an individual he knows allegedly took his boat  without his permission. The 1970 Pleasure boat was valued at $200, a Johnson Motor at $2,000, and a boat trailer at $400.

Break-in and theft alleged
Ginger Sane, 29, of Alpha Road, told Cocke County Deputy Sheriff Tony Bailey that on Monday, June 1, or Tuesday, June 2, someone kicked in the front door of her home and stuck a kitchen knife through the door after cutting a mattress in the living room. The following items and their estimated values were allegedly stolen: a Samsung plasma TV ($1,200), Samsung DVD player ($498), Panasonic stereo ($800), five surround-sound speakers ($250), and 100 DVDs ($2,000).

Blue shrub allegedly pulled up and planted elsewhere
Joe Crumley, 56, of 969 Carsons Springs Road, told Cocke County Deputy Sheriff Jason Oury that on Thursday, May 28, a nearby resident came onto his property and dug up a blue shrub that Crumley allegedly said was then planted on the thief's property. The three-foot tall shrub was valued at $250.

Man allegedly violated probation violation
James M. Norton, 23, of Marshall, N.C., was on Tuesday, June 2, picked up on Highway 25/70 at the state line and taken back to Cocke County Jail to face a probation violation, according to a report by Cocke County deputy Sheriff Tony Bailey.

Vandalism alleged at Smoky Mountain School
Jack Davis, of South Highway 32 in Cosby, told Cocke County Deputy Sheriff Tony Bailey that either on Monday, June 1, or the next day, someone damaged the fence that goes around the Youth Playground at Smoky Mt. School. The culprit allegedly jumped up onto the top of the fence, causing it to collapse. The playground did not have locks on its gates. A chain link fence post was valued at $300.

Vandalism alleged
Angela Barnes, 36, of Lower English Creek Road, told Cocke County Deputy Sheriff Randall Hartsell that on Wednesday, June 3, her son drove down their driveway and got nails in the driver's side front tire. She allegedly said she had new tires put on the vehicle only three days before the incident.  She suspected someone put the nails there on purpose.
