Damage done to day care center's fence Sandra Onuh, 47, of Carson Springs Road, told Cocke County Deputy Sheriff David Parton that on Friday, May 1, someone backed into the fence at 3D Daycare at 211 Carson Springs Road, doing about $1,000 worth of damage. The name of the driver of a van allegedly used was given to police.
Theft at rental cabin Bonnie Webb, 52, of Tree Road, in Cosby, said someone changed the code on the lock to a rental cabin on Amet Way in Cosby and took an RCA LCD flat screen television (worth $1,000), pillows ($300), a window ($500) and three bed linens ($150).
Accident blamed on possum Derrick C. Styles, 27, of 441 Lonesome Pine Road, in Bybee, was reportedly headed west on Rock Hill Road near Highway 321 in a 1995 Chevy Blazer on Saturday, May 9, around 8:40 p.m., when he swerved to avoid a possum in the road, veered off the road into the grass, and slid off an embankment, according to Cocke County Deputy Sheriff Joseph Owings. Styles was not injured, according to Owings' report.
Allegedly run off the road Sandra D. Evans, 43, of 170 Highway 160, in Newport, was driving a 1996 GMC Jimmy south on Highway 160 on Saturday, May 9, when a newer model, red Ford pickup truck was headed north on Highway 160 and allegedly crossed the center line, forcing the GMC off an embankment, according to a report by Cocke County Deputy Sheriff Tony Bailey. The Ford truck did not stop, there were no injuries, and the GMC suffered minor damage.
Pioneer CD player reported stolen Stephanie McClanahan, 27, of Overlook Way, in Newport, reported that on Saturday, May 9, late at night, someone stole a Pioneer CD player from her unlocked vehicle, according to a report by Sgt. Tony Whitten of the Cocke County Sheriff's Department.
Death threats alleged Chris Boykin, 21, of Epley Road, in Newport. called the Cocke County Sheriff's Department on Saturday, May 9, and said an individual had been phoning Boykin, texting him, threatening him, saying he had a shotgun and that he was going to kill him at his home, according to a report by Sgt. Tony Whitten of the Cocke County Sheriff's Department.
Child custody complaint Michael Ellison, of 636 Myers Circle, told Cocke County Deputy Sheriff Randall Hartsell that on Sunday, May 10, his daughter was taken from his residence to another location without his consent, and that an individual pulled a knife on him at that location. In a separate report by Oocke County Deputy Sheriff Joseph Owings, Ellison was allegedly threatening an individual and started a physical fight with another person. The person who had Ellison's two-year-old daughter said she feared for her life.
Assault alleged Jennifer Williams, 27, of Pierce Road, in Newport, was reportedly in the parking lot of the Midnight Rodeo on Sunday, May 10, at 2:45 a.m. when an individual allegedly tried to pull someone out of a vehicle. When Williams allegedly tried to stop the individual, he grabbed her by the throat and started choking her before someone got him off of Williams, according to a witness and a report by Cocke County Deputy Sheriff Robert Thornton.
Car allegedly hit man and drove on Leslie Phillips, of 151 Deer Foot Road, in Cosby, told Cocke County Deputy Sheriff Robert Thornton that on Sunday, May 10, around 4 p.m., he was allegedly off Deer Foot Road, on a dirt road, changing a tire on a trailer when a Ford Taurus was driven in, turned around, and hit Phillips and did not stop. Phillips talked to an individual's father who said Phillips had no business on that road.
Violation of order of protection alleged Christy Benson, 24, of New Cove Church Road, told Cocke County Deputy Sheriff Jason Oury that on Saturday, May 9, an individual violated an order of protection by calling her from a blocked phone number. The order of protection was reportedly issued April 14 out of the Cocke County General Sessions Court.
Vandalism alleged J. W. Warden, 61, of 932 Cedar St., told Cocke County Deputy Sheriff Tony Bailey that on Tuesday, May 12, between 9 a.m. and 2 p.m., someone drove on his property and spun gravel off his driveway and onto Cedar Street.

Taken for a ride? William Green, 30, said he gave a woman a ride from Northport and stopped at the Zoomers Exxon at 905 Cosby Highway to get some cash. When he returned to his vehicle, he noticed a bag of medication and $40 was missing and that the woman was gone, according to a report by Patrolman Derek Wright.
Identity theft alleged A woman on Graham street showed Patrolman Donna Hopkins a printout she said was proof someone was illegally using her name. The printout allegedly showed the work history for her social security number, including current employment at several locations in North Carolina, Washington, D.C., Illinois, Maryland, Minnesota and Tennessee. Her personal work history showed she had not worked in any of those locations.
Two-car accident on Clevenger Cut-off Benny Etherton, 61, of 1351 Butter Cup Way, in Newport, allegedly drove her 1992 Toyota pickup truck into the rear of a 2004 Chevy Tracker SUV driven by Emily P. Armstrong, 53, of 3811 Clear Springs Road, in Limestone while both drivers were waiting to turn from the Clevenger Cut-off onto Highway 25/70 West on Wednesday, May 13, about 6:40 p.m. Patrolman Heather Lawson said that Armstrong in the front car hesitated until she thought it would be safe to pull out into traffic on Highway 25/70. Etherton, reportedly because she saw Armstrong start moving forward, looked left for oncoming traffic and drove forward, thinking Armstrong had proceeded into traffic.
Accident in parking lot at Baptist Hospital Willie Mae Black, 83, of 507 Fairfield Drive, in Newport, was pulling her 1998 Buick out of a parking spot at Baptist Hospital of Cocke County on Tuesday, May 12, about 2:30 p.m. when she collided with a 2006 Ford Taurus belonging to Edward James Keistler, 59, of 2333 Freshour Road, in Parrottsville. Lt. Terry Lawson of the Newport Police Department said Black's vehicle was properly parked, but Keistler's vehicle was parked in an area of the curb painted yellow and that had "No Parking" painted in yellow paint on the road surface.
Wallet allegedly stolen Amanda Nelson, 20, told Patrolman Heather Lawson that while she was at the home of an acquaintance on Viewmont Circle, on Wednesday, May 13, from 9 to 10 p.m., her wallet was stolen. Nelson said it contained a driver's license, Social Security card, EBT (food stamp) card, insurance card, a Walmart gift card for $96, and $338 in cash.
Hit-and-run in Lowe's parking lot James P. Moore, 63, of 274 Summer House Road, in Del Rio, said that when he was shopping at Lowe's for about one-half hour on Wednesday, May 13, he returned to find someone had struck the rear passenger side of his 1994 Ford F-150 pickup truck, leaving a dent and scratches, according to a report by Patrolman Travis Gorrell.
Minor collision at Baptist Hospital Jeffrey Dunn, 51, of Joe Reed Drive, in Bybee, said he was backing up a 1999 Honda Accord on Tuesday, May 12, at 11:35 a.m. at Baptist Hospital of Cocke County, when he struck a 2004 Lincoln Town Car parked in the hospital's parking lot, causing "very minor damage" to both vehicles, according to a report by Capt. Brad Ball.
