Break-in and theft alleged Charles Hall, of Eagle Nest Road, in Cosby, told Cocke County Deputy Sheriff Tony Bailey that on Monday, May 4, someone entered his residence sometime between Saturday and Monday took a Smith & Wesson .40 caliber pistol, one or two clips of ammunition, and a DVD player, with a total value of $530.
Car allegedly chases minor Tasha Treece, of 307 Dykes St., in Newport, told Cocke County Deputy Sheriff William Emmons that on Monday, May 4, her son, Donovan, was at a friend's house in the Cocke Estates playing outside when a male in a white Charger sedan pulled up and told the two juveniles to get out of the road, and cussed them. Donovan reportedly ran through the woods to keep the car from running over him. Emmons said the boy had scratches on both legs like he had run through a briar patch.
Vehicle reported stolen Randy Gunter, of 1656 Spray Road, in Newport, told Cocke County Deputy Sheriff Tony Bailey on Thursday, April 30, that a blue 1989 Ford F150 pickup truck belonging to Monir Girgis, of Knoxville, that Gunter had for sale and parked at Sweetie's Flea Market on West Highway 25/70 was stolen sometime between Tuesday, April 28, at 10 p.m. and Thursday, April 30, at 11 a.m. when he reopened his business. The vehicle is valued at $1,500.
Two points of view on alleged assault Curtis Reed, of 139 Farra Way, in Newport, told Cocke County Deputy Sheriff Jason Oury that Michael Ellison came on his property on Saturday, May 2, without provocation and hit him in the face several times. Oury spoke with Reed at Cocke County Baptist Hospital and observed a cut below Reed's right eye and an abrasion on his right temple. However, Sgt. Eric Rinehart, who was dispatched to the scene shortly after the alleged assault took place, wrote a report for assault on behalf of Ellison. According to Rinehart's report, Reed came out of his residence, started arguing with Ellison, and reportedly struck Ellison on Ellison's forearm, causing a red mark. Ellison also said Reed threatened to burn down Ellison's residence at 1120 Near Way.

Alleged sex offender didn't register Jeffrey Lee Stock, 41, of 1770 Fisher Bin Way, in Del Rio, was arrested after he failed on Monday, April 27, to do his annual Sex Offender Registry reporting with the Cocke County Sheriff's Department as required to do so annually, according to Det. Derrick Woods.
A Mickey Mouse crime? Dennis Ledford, 32, of 121 Loftis Road, in Parrottsville, was arrested Tuesday, April 28, by Det. Bryan Murr, and charged with the theft on Feb. 10 of three Walt Disney art prints from a coin laundromat on Highway 25/70. The prints were valued at $150.
