Once a year Modern Woodmen honors a local person fortheir volunteer work in the community. On Monday evening the group presentedthe award to ReneŽ Hurst, outgoing president of the Newport/Cocke CountyChamber of Commerce and Cocke County Partnership. Hurst has also volunteeredfor several other community organizations. In addition to presenting Hurst witha certificate, Modern Woodmen donated $100 to the Cocke County Senior CitizensCenter in Hurst's honor.
