PHOTO COURTESY OF THE PRICE FAMILY CMT recently filmed "Outsider's Inn" at Christopher Place. From left are Carnie Wilson, Bobby Brown, the Prices, and Maureen McCormick during a break from the filming.
After a month of filming, the CMT film crews have left
Christopher Place and it is back to business as usual.
"After the filming ended, it took four days to put
the inn back together," said owner Marston Price.
He explained sheetrock had to be repaired, halls had to
be repainted, and floors were refinished.
"They did do a job of putting things back
together," he added.
CMT crews had been on site converting Christopher Place
into Pigeon Manor for the upcoming series, "Outsider's Inn."
Describing the last month for himself and Christopher
Place staff, Price said, "It was very hard; it has been tiring and
stressful. The film crew had a job to do in a limited amount of time and we
were here to try to protect our investment, our property, and our jobs. Often,
the two interests collided."
Price said he particularly enjoyed working with the
celebrities involved in the production.
"They were all down to earth," he said.
He described Bobby Brown as "a decent, sensitive,
and kind person."
"Maureen (McCormick) told some really funny
jokes," he added. "She was great."
And, Carnie Wilson, he said, is a wonderful cook.
"She wouldn't eat the food herself, but she would
cook for everyone else here and it was awesome," he said. "The
celebrities wanted to be treated like normal people, because they are just
normal people."
Explaining eight episodes had been filmed in Cocke
County, he said if the show is successful in the Nielsen ratings, CMT will
return for more filming and the series will become 16 episodes opposed to eight
episodes.
"If they do come back, I don't want to be here the
entire time," he said. He explained he would be on site for the beginning
and the end of filming, but would probably go on vacation during the remainder
of the time.
Further discussing the filming, Price said, "When we
made the decision to allow filming here we knew it would be hard. The people of
Cocke County have been so kind to us, we felt this would be a way of giving
back."
He said a large amount of money was spent by CMT and the
staff in the area during the month-long stay. Price also pointed out local
people were employed for the production as well.
"We didn't have any control as to the content of
this show. We do hope it will not portray the south negatively. Everyone needs
to understand it is TV humor. We did have some reservations, but hopefully,
everyone will understand it is just TV and we have no control over the
content," he added.
Now the film crews have left English Mountain, Price said
it is business as usual at Christopher Place.
The Library Pub, portrayed as Bobby's Pub in
"Outsider's Inn," is open seven days a week from 5:30 to 8 p.m.
"The pub has a casual atmosphere where people can
come for a cocktail, a glass of tea, or a meal," he explained.
Formal dining is also available Tuesday through Saturday
by reservation with a 7 p.m. seating.
"You don't have to stay here to eat here,"
Price added. "We encourage local residents to come dine with us. And, we
have lots of stories to share about a month with Hollywood."
