NEWPORT-Patrolman Billy Woody was dispatched to the home
of Jimmy Pruitt, 48, 235 Melton Ave., Newport, Wednesday morning after
receiving a call concerning shots fired at the residence.
Upon arrival,
Woody and other officers noticed several people standing in the yard of the
residence. Woody spoke with Pruitt who stated a white male and white female
came to his house and shot several times at both the interior and exterior of
the home.
Police noticed
the home's front glass door was shattered. In addition, police found a small
caliber shell casing laying on the front porch of the residence. Officers also
found a bullet hole on the left side of the front door as well as on the door
itself. After entering the home, police discovered a TV had been shot twice and
found two shell casings on the floor. One casing was beside a chair while the
other was found near the TV. Woody's report adds that several fragments of
bullets were found in a wall of the home.
