NEWPORT-Local citizens are urged to help victims of
the raging floods which continue to plague the Midwest.
Beginning today, items including clothing, shoes,
socks, blankets, non-perishable food, and bottled water will be accepted at the
Newport Wal-Mart, according to Amy Reed and Tonya Ellison, coordinators of the
effort.
"Your help is needed to bring some relief to
victims who have lost so much," said Reed and Ellison on Tuesday evening,
as they addressed those attending the annual Volunteers in Partnership picnic
at City Park.
"Please bring your donations to our Flood Relief
Truck, which will be located in front of our store," they added.
Reed and Ellison asked that area neighborhoods,
churches, clubs, and volunteer groups join in the effort.
For more information about the project, call
423-608-2684 or see anyone in the local Wal-Mart management team.
