NEWPORT-Melonie A. Montanaro, 19, 1366 Buttercup Way, was charged Monday morning with aggravated robbery, stemming from an alleged robbery of Best Western Newport Inn on Sunday.
According to Newport Police Department Sgt. Steve Hudson, Montanaro allegedly entered the Best Western lobby just before midnight.
Nikki Phillips, a Best Western Clerk on duty at the time, told Hudson that Montanaro used the telephone and restroom, then waited until everyone else left the lobby.
She told Hudson that the suspect allegedly said, "Give me all your money," before flashing a gun.
According to Hudson's report, Montanaro was picked out of a photo lineup by Phillips and another witness.
Montanaro was out of jail on bond, having been charged in a 2004 lottery fraud case, when the robbery occurred.
According to Cocke County Circuit Court records, Montanaro's bond was revoked Monday and she is awaiting a June 20 trial for the lottery fraud case.
She is currently being held in the Cocke County Detention Center.
