NEWPORT-Child support magistrate Lu Ballew briefly responded to charges brought against her by the Tennessee Board of Judicial Conduct, court documents show.A three-member investigative panel organized by the board ruled that there is "reasonable cause" to believe Judge Ballew committed judicial offenses in violation of the Tennessee Code Annotated.The panel directed Disciplinary Counsel to file formal charges against her, according to a court document.Judge Ballew, a child support magistrate in the Fourth Judicial District, which includes Cocke County, was appointed to her position, according to a court document.For more details, please see the weekend edition of the Newport Plain Talk.
