NEWPORT—A pair of tightly contested matchups were on hand when New Center visited Newport Grammar School on Monday evening.

The Area 4 rivals locked horns and in both varsity games, Newport Grammar was able to survive and pull away late for victories.

The Lady Warriors used a pair of pivotal runs in each half to preserve a 45-39 win over New Center.

Meanwhile, the Warriors were a beneficiary of a 22-point effort from Alex Overholt and a solid defensive effort, which allowed them to take a 33-24 win over visiting New Center on Monday evening.
