NEWPORT-Jerry McKinney, 51, of Morristown, stated that on Sunday, Nov. 3, two men he had been out with beat him up and threw him into a creek, the Cocke County Sheriff's Office reported.McKinney was flown by Life Star to the University of Tennessee Medical Center, where, as of the next day, Monday, his condition had not improved enough to be interviewed, Deputy Sheriff Jerry Vandergriff reported. Det. Bryan Murr of the CCSO was called to the scene and is investigating the incident, the report stated.Officers were allegedly dispatched to South Highway 32 near mile marker 6 in reference to a man lying in the road and who appeared to have been assaulted, according to the report.Upon the officers' arrival, the victim identified himself, and said after he was beaten up and thrown into a creek, he had crawled up out of the creek and onto the road. He said the two males took his 1996 blue Ford Mustang, wallet, and shoes.
