NEWPORT--A night that started in promise ended in a heartbreaking fashion for the Cocke County High School Fighting Cocks Friday night, who were looking for a win in their season finale.

After executing an onside kick by McKenzie Gregg on the opening kickoff and inches from converting a fake punt on the initial drive of the game, the Fighting Cocks fell behind 27-0 in the first half to Morristown West, before falling 47-14 at Burke-Toney Stadium.

Trojans sophomore tailback DeAndre Delaney ran for 134 yards and four touchdowns in the opening half to help put the game out of reach.

Despite the opportunities presented to Cocke County in their initial drive, they were only able to generate 14 yards of total offense, while turning the ball over twice in the opening half.

"We had some opportunities early on, we just couldn't muster anything offensively," Cocke County coach Caleb Slover said. "We missed some assignments up front, that's part of it I guess, we've got to do a better job of that."
