NEWPORT—Plans are in place for “A Bid for Their Future,” the ninth annual Boys & Girls Club of Newport auction, an annual fundraiser for the local organization.
This year’s event will be Saturday, November 2, starting at 10 a.m. at the Boys & Girls Club’s local headquarters, 531 Bailey St. Previewing of items will begin at 9 a.m. that morning.
On Tuesday, club director Shane Borie and employees Gail Woods, Santana Woodard, and Jacob Rathbone continued unpacking and lining us items for the auction.
Some of the “big ticket” items include a Harley Davidson motorcycle, a boat, and two cars.
“We’ll also have a miniature horse, antiques including furniture, firearms, electric guitars, and even an industrial fan with an attached mister,” Borie said.
Supporters of the local group have worked for several months collecting items for the sale. Food and refreshments will be available for purchase.
To donate an item for the auction or for more information, call 423-623-6536 and stop by the club.
