CANTON, GA.óThe Milligan College womenís golf team tied for first place in the AAC Fall Championship played at the Callahan Golf Links in Canton, GA.
In the tournamentís second round, Milliganís Cassidy Gibson and Madison Smith would both shoot 76, earning the lowest score of the second round. Gibsonís score would set her apart to earn medalist honors for the tournament with a 155.
After Milliganís first round score of 331, the Buffaloes stormed back to shoot a new team record in the second round shooting 317. Head Coach, Tony Wallingford said, ďThe 317 on Tuesday moved us from 4th place into a tie for first. Ann Sullivan kept us in it on day one and Cassidy and Madison led the way for our comeback on Tuesday. The course played tough for us demanding both length and accuracy. I was really happy for the girls.Ē
With Gibson and Smith leading the way for the team, Sullivan would shoot 82 in her second round. Brittany Branker and Mollie Stone would shoot 83 and 89 respectively giving the Buffaloes the tie with SCAD-Atlanta for first at 648.
With the tie, the Buffaloes will enter the spring tournament tied for first with SCAD-Atlanta where they will play 36 holes at the Elizabethton Golf Course, April.6-8, 2014 for the AAC regular season championship.
