NEWPORT-Marvin Stewart was honored as the "Kiwanian of the Year" at a banquet that saw the installation of new officers for 2013-2014, including a new female president, Tina Kilgore, on Tuesday, Sept. 24.

Stewart is the principal of Cocke County High School and has been a lieutenant governor in the Kiwanis three times in other states.

Kilgore is only the fourth female president of the Newport Kiwanis Club since the civic club began in 1920.

Other officers for 2013-2014 and their new titles are: President Elect Brad Davidson, Vice President Rob Mathis, Treasurer Marvin Stewart, and Secretary Dale Brown.
