NEWPORT—Cocke County Election Commission witnessed a good response from citizens toward National Voter Registration Month, which is celebrated during September.
Cocke County Administrator of Elections Joyce Slagle said her office has had a steady stream of citizens either registering to vote up updating their voting information.
Slagle said the effort, which was highlighted by National Voter Registration Day last Tuesday, is to make eligible voters aware of registration deadlines and requirements, as well as encouraging already registered voters to update their current registration if they have recently changed their address.
