NEWPORT-A Newport man faces multiple charges after Newport Police Department officers noticed his vehicle did not have a working rear brake light.

Patrolman Travis Gorrell reported officers charged Josh Shehee, 29, 695 Rock Hill Rd., after stopping his vehicle on Mulberry Street.

Officers discovered a pill bottle with two morphine tablets, a plastic container with a spoon, needles, and a tie-off typically used for shooting drugs. Upon checking, officers also found that Detective James Holt had issued an active warrant charging Shehee with theft under $500.

In connection with the traffic stop, Shehee also faces charges of violation of the light law, driving on a revoked license (4th or more offense), possession of Schedule II drugs, and possession of drug paraphernalia.
