NEWPORT—An 18-year-old skateboarder, Brian Blalock, 335 College St., was apparently uninjured after being struck by a car Thursday evening at the intersection of Woodlawn Ave. and Mulberry St.
Patrolman Josh Holt reported officers responded to a call of a vehicle having struck a skateboarder.
The driver, Billy Pat Cureton, 79, 1885 New Cave Church Road, operating a 1989 Chevrolet, told officers he was traveling west on Mulberry St. when the skateboarder skated in front of his vehicle and he was unable to stop.
Blalock reportedly refused medical treatment and “walked away from the scene.”
