NEWPORT-Lanes are being widened and constructed along West Highway 25/70 as part of improvements being made to Highway 411, the Tennessee Department of Transportation has reported.

As of June 15, the contractor, Charles Blalock & Sons, Inc. had moved 700,000 cubic meters of dirt, as part of the construction plan to move about 2.5 million cubic meters.

The $27,882,058 project is scheduled to be completed by May 31, 2015, according to Mark Nagi of TDOT's public information department.

Almost 26 percent of the work has been completed, Nagi stated.
