NEWPORT-Cocke County A&I Fair, Tennessee's Champion AA Division for 2012, is gearing up for its 65th annual event August 12-17.

A highlight of this year's celebration will be the inaugural Cocke County Fair Prestigious Ms/Mrs Pageant on Friday, August 16, at 8 p.m. in the Little Theatre.

Unlike the traditional Fairest of the Fair and similar pageants for younger girls, the Prestigious Ms/Mrs Pageant is open only to women age 40 and above, according to Libbye Strange, fair manager.

"We're thrilled to host this event as a way to bring recognition and appreciation to the many women in Cocke County whose contributions in their churches, clubs, and communities make our home better," said Strange.
