NEWPORT—Serious charges arising from an incident last April were among the allegations handed down by the Cocke County Grand Jury after a two-day session this week.

Franklin Lynn Shropshire is named in an unsealed presentment on charges of aggravated kidnapping, aggravated burglary, robbery, two counts of assault, and theft of property valued at less than $500.

The charges stem from an incident on April 3 in which Shropshire allegedly broke into the home of Delores Horn, at 278 Harvest Street; confined the woman in her own home; assaulted both Delores and Robin Horn, of the same address; and took a purse and other property valued at less than $500.

Grand jurors returned 21 unsealed presentments on Tuesday and 53 presentments which were ordered sealed by Circuit Judge Ben W., Hooper II pending the arrest of the accused defendants.
