NEWPORT—For the eighth consecutive year, the Cocke County Partnership again honored community volunteers for their work at the organization's annual Volunteers in Partnership (V.I.P.) Picnic held at the Newport City Park on Tuesday evening.

Fourteen partnering organizations which fall under the umbrella of the Cocke County Partnership, along with the three entities of the Partnership's organization honored volunteers for their service over the past calendar year.

"Without these volunteers, many jobs in the community would not get done and that is why we are always proud to sponsor the Volunteers in Partnership picnic," Cocke County Partnership President Don Hurst said. "We can only be successful by working together and a lot of this work is done by our volunteers in the community.

"We have many volunteers who work diligently throughout the year, and this is just a small way in which we can say thank you to a few of them," Hurst said.
