NEWPORT—While an abundance of rain may have caused some problems throughout East Tennessee this year, it has resulted in some benefits for TVA ratepayers and those using areas lakes for recreation.
Visiting the Plain Talk on Tuesday, TVA officials said lakes on the TVA system have reached, or will soon be at, summer levels.
Speaking about Douglas Lake, TVA General Manager of River Scheduling Chuck Bach said, “We will be there before the first of June. Currently, with all the rain, a lot of our reservoirs are full already. Douglas and Cherokee are well on their way.”
Bach said summer rain predictions from the National Weather Service are calling for near normal precipitation, meaning lake levels should be maintained through Labor Day.
