NEWPORT-An armed man robbed the CVS pharmacy of prescription pills on Saturday, May 4, the Newport Police Department reported.

Pharmacist Josh Apa said that at 2:24 p.m., a white male wearing square-shaped glasses, a gray ski jacket with a white stripe, blue jeans, white tennis shoes, and a white baseball cap came up to the register and handed him a note that told him to give the robber all the Oxycodone and Hydromorphine pills he had, Patrolman Amy Gentry reported.

The offender showed Apa and other employees a black gun stuck in his waistband, which may have been a 9 mm handgun, according to the report.

The robber then went behind the counter and opened a black duffel bag that had a red Swiss Army symbol on it, and told Apa to put the pills in it.
