NEWPORT-Plans continue to come together for Gradfest 2013, an all-night celebration for seniors at Cosby and Cocke County High School.

The event will begin after the two classes graduate on May 24 and will be held at Newport/Cocke County Community Center beginning at 11 p.m.

For several months, parents and other volunteers have worked diligently to raise the needed $20,000 for the all-night celebration. Gradfest 2013 Chair Truitt Ottinger said, "We believe this event may save lives of teens who would be tempted to engage in inappropriate behavior."

Begun 18 years ago by the Natural Bridge Ruritan Club, Gradfest is now sponsored by Parrottsville Ruritan Club as a safe, fun, and alcohol/drug free party for the estimated 400-plus graduates of the two schools.
