NEWPORT—A hard-worked Cocke County Grand Jury ended its two-day session on Tuesday after passing judgment on 267 cases.

In its report on Tuesday afternoon to Circuit Judge Ben W. Hooper II, the panel returned 57 criminal true bills of indictment, 19 presentments which were opened by Judge Hooper, two “no true bills” clearing persons of pending criminal charges, and 20 presentments which were ordered sealed by the court. That represents a total of 98 cases heard by the grand jury on the second day of this week’s session.

Combined with the 169 cases which the panel heard on Monday, that represents 267 criminal cases which passed before the grand jury this week.
