NEWPORT-Cocke County High School celebrated senior night in style on Monday.

Senior Jake Ottinger, in his first appearance on the mound this year, picked up the victory after throwing one-hit baseball, as the Fighting Cocks defeated Chuckey-Doak High School by an 8-0 score on Monday night.

Ottinger was one of three seniors who took the mound for the Fighting Cocks on Monday. The team’s other senior, Mace Coakley, caught all three pitchers in the game. The trio of arms limited Chuckey-Doak to a pair of hits.

“I’m extremely proud of them,” Cocke County coach Andy Chrisman said. “These guys have been with me for four years and it’s the first group that I’ve had to be with them for four years.

“When I came back from Science Hill, this was the group of freshmen, so I’m certainly very close to those four guys,” Chrisman said.
