NEWPORT-Making technology class offerings available locally is one of the goals of the Cocke County Economic Development Commission.

Cocke County Partnership President Don Hurst told members of the EDC Executive Committee at their meeting Thursday that meetings have been held with leaders of Tennessee Technological Centers in Morristown and Knoxville "to bring classes here."

While many Cocke County citizens already travel to those cities for classes, "time, money, and gas costs prohibit others from doing so," according to Hurst. "By bringing the classes here, we hope to make it possible for more of our citizens to continue their studies."
