NEWPORT—Patients of Dr. Joy Stone, optometric physician at Drs. Foster and Steele, might hear some humming. If so, their doctor could very well be running over a musical selection or two to be performed by the Air National Guard Band of the Smoky Mountains.
Dr. Stone, who joined Drs. Foster and Steele last August 10, plays the French horn with the performance ensemble.
“We perform at events in the communities of a seven-eight state region,” she explained.
As a musician with the group, Dr. Stone spends one weekend each month at McGhee-Tyson headquarters in preparation for upcoming concerts. Many of these are scheduled around the July 4 holiday.
