COSBY-After a four-year stint on the hardwood for Cosby High School, Lexi Lowery is on her way to the collegiate level.

Lowery signed a National Letter of Intent this week to continue her playing career at Concord University. Concord is a NCAA Division II school located in Athens, West Virginia.

While helping to lead the Lady Eagles of Cosby to a 95-22 record over the past four years, Lowery was also a two-time All-State selection. Cosby appeared in two sectional games, one state tournament and captured a trio of District 2-A championships in that span.

Lowery said that the four years of success for the Lady Eagles prepared her for the challenge of being able to compete for a scholarship at the collegiate level.

“These past four years at Cosby helped to prepare me for the next level physically and mentally,” Lowery said. “There were times that I had to play full games due to injuries on the team, which is really hard when you’re going all out defensively and trying to handle the ball and get others open offensively.

“I learned to push through frustration and pain, which ultimately has made me a stronger player,” Lowery said.
