PARROTTSVILLE-U.S. Congressman Phil Roe, whose First District he represents includes Cocke County, held a roughly 90-minute town hall meeting in a pavilion at Parrottsville's public park, on Monday, April 22.

Congressman Roe took questions from about 85 people sitting on folding chairs who filled up the pavilion space. He preceded the question-and-answer period by stating his positions on some issues he is most concerned about.

Roe said he planned to hold 12 similar town hall meetings in small communities in the First District that he represents.

"You're the backbone of this nation," said Roe to those present. He said he learned a lot about what his constituents' concerns are by holding such meetings in small communities like Parrottsville.
