NEWPORT-Former City Administrator Scott Collins is claiming that the alderwoman who successfully pushed for his firing earlier this year has been profiting from police officers in the city who have bought gasoline from two gas stations allegedly owned by the alderwoman, Kathy Holt.

Collins said he personally handed a letter and documents to District Attorney General Jimmy Dunn Thursday afternoon, April 18. He then brought a copy of the accusation to The Newport Plain Talk.

Alderwoman Holt, when reached by phone Friday afternoon, April 19, stated when asked to comment on the request by Collins, "I don't care what Scott Collins says. He's a desperate man needing a job. You can put that in your newspaper." She then disconnected the call.

The letter from Collins is dated April 7, and is addressed to the district attorney general at his office in Sevierville. He requests that a "quo warranto" action be filed by Dunn's office in reference to Holt. It states that although Holt lists her address as 644 Ratcliff St., in Newport, "it is common belief that her primary residence is 2505 Hemlock Road," Newport.
