After more than 20 years at the local gas utility serving the public, a veteran employee has retired to spend more time with her family.

Management and employees at Jefferson-Cocke County Utility District honored Brenda Fancher on March 24 with a retirement luncheon, attended by many of her family and friends.

She joined the gas utility about 1990 and was administrative secretary to gas utility general manager Tommy Bible, who praised her loyalty and team work to better serve the district's 12,000-plus customers.

"We appreciate what she has done for the district. She has always been there for our customers and employes. . . and she walks the Christian life," said Bible.
