NEWPORT--Newport Medical Center, in partnership with area EMS agencies, will hold its fifth annual Super Safety Saturday festival on Saturday, April 20, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Newport Grammar School.

The community is invited to this free event which will feature specialized emergency vehicles, equipment and personnel from area agencies such as Cocke County Volunteer Rescue Squad, Newport Fire Department, Cocke County Sheriff's Office and Tennessee Wildlife Resource Agency. Available for up-close inspection will be fire and rescue vehicles, boats, ambulances and specialized rescue equipment. The day will also include live fire and life-safety demonstrations, a car-seat safety check, interactive driving/boating simulators, games and children's activities.

"We are proud to offer the Family Safety Festival to the community, with a two-fold purpose," said Spencer Thomas, CEO of Newport Medical Center. "First, the festival allows emergency responders from across Cocke County to come together to interact with people and showcase their skills and commitment to those they serve. Secondly, and most important of all, this festival helps inform and engage our citizens so that they may protect themselves and their families from accidents, fire and other life-safety emergencies. Whether they are eight or 80, everyone will find something there that will help them stay safe."
