NEWPORT-A Newport driver, Rodney Williams, 31, 659 Sixth St., faces several charges following his arrest by Newport Police officers early Wednesday morning.

According to police reports, Williams was driving a silver Malibu south on Hwy. 321 with a headlight out on the driver's side.

He also reportedly was driving with his car's lights on bright and failed to dim them for the officer's vehicle.

Officers stopped Williams in the parking lot of a fast food restaurant and described Williams as smelling of a strong odor of alcohol, having bloodshot eyes, exhibiting slurred speech, and being unsteady on his feet.
