Once again, Mother Nature continues to create havoc with the local prep sports scene.

Heavy rains on Sunday evening prompted the postponement of Monday evening’s Cocke County District 2-AAA baseball game with Seymour High School.

As a result, the series will be pushed back one day, with Seymour visiting Newport tonight at 5 p.m.

The two teams will meet in Seymour at noon on Wednesday.

Last week’s District 2-AAA series with Morristown East was also rained out. Those games have been rescheduled for a noon first pitch on Saturday, April 13 in Morristown and for Tuesday, April 30 in Newport at 5 p.m.

Cocke County’s baseball team is the lone local squad in action this week, until the school’s softball
team takes the field later this week in play at the Eastman Softball Classic in Kingsport on Thursday.
