Although the calendar reads March, Mother Nature is quickly becoming the thorn in the sides of almost every TSSAA Spring Sports team in the area.

Rain, snow and high winds prompted the cancellation of every game scheduled locally on Monday.
Cosby High Schoolís softball team was scheduled to open itís 2013 season at Gatlinburg-Pittman before the weather struck on Monday.

Games also on the slate which were scrapped included Cosby baseball traveling to Maryville Christian for the first of a two-game series, as well as Cocke County High softball playing host to District 2-AAA opponent Cherokee High School.

Cocke County High Schoolís baseball team also had itís first game of the District 2-AAA series with Morristown East scrubbed from the schedule on Monday, with no makeup date immediately scheduled.

On tap for Tuesday, weather permitting, are six games.

In baseball play, Cosby High is scheduled to host Maryville Christian and Cocke County is slated to host Morristown East. Both games are set for a 5 p.m. first pitch.

In softball, Cosby High now has their season opener scheduled to be played at Class AAA Sevier County High School, while Cocke County will visit Jefferson County High School at 5:30 p.m.

In soccer play, Cosby High School will travel to Grainger High School for a key Region 1-A/AA showdown. Meanwhile the CCHS soccer team visits Cherokee High School to face the Chiefs in their inaugural season.
