NEWPORT-"Partnerships connecting businesses, government, and education are vitally important in any community," said Dr. Lori Campbell, keynote speaker at the 2013 Cocke County Partnership banquet Saturday evening at Carson Springs Baptist Conference Center.

Campbell, Walters State Community College Vice-President of Academic Affairs, praised Cocke County's understanding of the importance of partnering in connection with developing a well-trained workforce.

"You and Walters State have a mutual goal," said Campbell, who outlined WSCC's ongoing programs for the audience.

"Education and economic development go hand in hand," Campbell began. "At Walters State, we are expanding our technical education programs at both our Greeneville and Sevierville campuses."
