NEWPORT-Brandy Hensley, director of the Newport/Cocke County Animal Shelter, said someone entered the shelter and stole approximately $200 in cash sometime between Wednesday, March 13, at 6:15 p.m., and Thursday, March 14, at 8 a.m., when Hensley discovered the break-in, the Newport Police Department reported.

The cash was reportedly taken from multiple locations inside the facility. No other items were reported missing.

NPD detectives James Holt and Jason Ramsey responded to the incident and took photos of the crime scene, Patrolman Robby McMahan reported.
