(Last modified: 2013-02-21 08:28:20) Source: The Newport Plain Talk NEWPORT-Robert Green has been chosen by the Cocke County Legislative Body to fill the seat vacated by the death of Bill Williamson late last year. Green was selected from among four candidates presented to the CLB during Tuesday's regular monthly meeting. Other candidates selected by the General Committee for consideration were Claire Crouch, Ben Hicks and Terry Brockwell. CLB acting Chairman Clay Blazer advised members the nominee for the position would need at least seven votes. CLB member Jimmy Lindsey requested that Tom Sutton, also of the Fifth District, make the first nomination. Sutton nominated Green and all other commissioners present followed suit.
