The Newport Grammar School basketball teams will hit the hardwood tonight as they look to claim the TMSAA Class AA Area 3 championships at Pigeon Forge Middle School.

The Lady Warriors, which defeated Rush Strong Middle School in Monday night’s semifinal round by one point, will play No. 2 seed New Center Middle for their championship in the game that begins at 7 p.m.

The Lady Warriors played for last year’s Area 3 title, but fell 44-38 to New Center. Newport Grammar held a 10-point second half lead in the game, before falling in last year’s championship battle.

Meanwhile the top-seeded Warriors will play for the championship against No. 2 Rush Strong Middle School. The Warriors, which advanced by beating No. 4 seed New Center by two points on Monday, fell at Rush Strong in the regular season meeting earlier this month.

The game is slated to begin 8:15 p.m.
