COSBY-Even by remaining idle, the Cosby Lady Eagles still held on to second place in the third edition of the Class A Associated Press Tennessee girls’ basketball prep poll.

The Lady Eagles are in a tie with Summertown for second place in this week’s poll. Cosby, which opened in the initial poll in third place, had three first place votes in this week’s poll - but amounted 134 points.

Summertown had only one first place vote, but also had 134 points.

Union City High School, which had 10 first place votes this week, remains atop the poll for the second consecutive week.

Jackson County, which was in first place for the first poll of the year comes in fourth this week.
Clarkrange, which was third a week ago, fell to fifth after a loss last week.

A trio of teams that Cosby may see in postseason play take the next three slots in the poll.
Oliver Springs, out of Region 2-A, is in at the sixth slot this week with a 14-4 record.

Region 1-A foes North Greene and Hampton then take the next two places in the poll.

North Greene, which handed the Lady Eagles one of their two losses this year, is in at seventh. The
Lady Huskies toppled Unaka and Greeneville this past week to get back on the winning track.

Hampton, with a first place vote, took eighth in this week’s poll. The Lady Bulldogs have won 16 games, with a number coming against Class AAA competition, but fell to Cloudland by a single point on Friday night.

Collinwood comes in ninth in this week’s poll with a 13-3 record, with Cascade rounding out the poll in tenth with a 14-6 record.

Grainger High School is first in the Class AA poll, taking all 21 first place votes.
