SNEEDVILLE-Cosby High School was saddled with a District 2-A split on the road at Hancock County High School on Friday night.

The state's third-ranked Lady Eagles (16-2, 4-0) had a tough time of it on the road, however,  they ultimately prevailed for a 35-27 victory. Bethanie Williams led the Lady Eagles in scoring with nine points.

Hancock County (5-11, 2-2) had the ball down by three points with 90 seconds to play, but was unable to tie the game.

Meanwhile the Eagles dropped their second game in three tries as they fell by a 44-31 decision.

Cosby (11-7, 3-1) was led in scoring by Tate Parton's 10-point outing. The win avenged a 61-44 loss  by the Indians (3-13, 3-1) at Cosby on December 14.

Cosby returns to action with road games at Jellico High School on Tuesday night. For more information on Friday night's games at Hancock County, see the Tuesday edition of the Newport Plain Talk for more.
