A handful of local soccer players from Cosby and Cocke County High Schools were recently honored for their efforts in the 2012 season.

At Cosby High School, the Lady Eagles - who advanced to the regional semifinals for the second straight season - had five players honored.

Leading the way for Cosby was keeper Cyara Williams, who was honored as the Region 1-A/AA Co-Defensive Player of the Year, alongside Greeneville's Madison Hite.

Also honored as first team regional selections for the Lady Eagles were senior Lexi Lowery and sophomore Brooke Schreder.

Second team selections for the Lady Eagles were juniors Sunshine Mayfield and Megan Large.
Elizabethton senior Christine Hardin was the regional player of the year.

Cocke County High School had two players selected to the All District 2-AAA team.

Destinie Click made the squad as a first team selection for her efforts on the field in the 2012 campaign.

Lady Red keeper Stone Trentham was also selected to the All-District 2-AAA squad as a second team pick.
