GREENEVILLE-One of the favorites to take the 2012 LandAir Ladies Classic championship before the tournament did just that on Saturday night.

Murfreesboro Oakland came to Greeneville undefeated and ranked among the best teams in the south. They left town Saturday night with their unbeaten record intact and with the 24th annual Ladies' Classic crown.

Oakland High School, which a night earlier survived an semifinail upset bid by Christian Academy of Knoxville in a three-point victory, toppled District 2-AAA Morristown West for the championship.

The victory was Oakland High's closest against TSSAA competition this season.

Emily Eubank dropped in 20 points and tournament most valuable player Ellen Riggins added 12 to pace the Patriots (14-0). Morristown West (10-6) got 12 points from Jecca Simerly and 11 points from Abby Craine.

The Lady Trojans run to the title tilt took out Mt. Juliet High School, which had played in three straight Ladies' Classic title games, Greeneville High School and Rockcastle County (Kentucky).

Oakland came out strong, taking the lead from the outset with a 15-6 first quarter advantage and never really letting the Trojans rally.

West trailed 24-16 at intermission, but the Patriots moved to a 38-25 lead going into the final period.
