NEWPORT-Members of English Creek Baptist Church recently provided inmates at the county jail with "indigent packages" containing a toothbrush, toothpaste, comb, deodorant, and bar of soap, plus sweets, and even a rare treat of a McDouble cheeseburger from McDonald's.

Church member Andy Tritt said this was the second year English Creek Baptist Church has handed out treat bags at Christmas to every inmate. This year, they handed out 191 treat bags.

"This is a ministry to let them know that even though they have made bad decisions in their lives, there are still people who love and care about them very much," stated a church press release.
